In this milestone the Lucene search engine will be replaced with the Xapian search engine. This will allows easier installation of search servers (this has been a BIG deal in the past), gives better search results, builds indexes faster, allows stop words in artist searches, and will hopefully allow us to handle more searches per single server.
We're now handling about 1,500 searches per minute, so search has become quite important for us.

This is the next server release, which should hopefully appear on the main server close to the end of 2008.

The artist pages keep accumulating more and more data and thus are expensive to load for both the database and the users. The set of features under this term will introduce an artist page separated into different viewing tabs. See MBWiki:ArtistPageRedesign for details.

Port of the server code to TemplateToolkit/Catalyst (aCiD2's GSoC project)

MBWiki:WikiDocs will base more of the main site's content on the very good documentation that has evolved in the MusicBrainz wiki.
